We often hear and see on our TV's even on our surroundings everyday, our fellow Filipino's shouting joyfully and "proudly" saying "I am proud to be Pinoy".
Reasons:
a Filipino boxer won an international fight and received a Champions Belt, and is ready to enjoy his reward money with his family, and should be already are planned to have many projects to earn more money in Show business.
a Filipino singer has been chosen to sing a foreign country's National Anthem, and will probably be enjoying the high rated talent fee.
a Filipino Team of buffed bodied men won a sports competition abroad, and will probably have many endorsement, which means more money, by the time they come home.
Of course!, Yes! I do, also, think that those things are worthy to be proud of. But have you tried being proud of yourself? Have you tried to do something for the country, even small things, that made you say "I am proud of myself", and that, my friend, is the right moment, for you, to tell the whole world "I am proud to be Filipino."
Put first priority your country and your countrymen. Who in real life is suffering and is not enjoying the privileges those people we see on TV, Billboards and Lifestyle Magazines are having. They who are on top of the living lifestyle of our country who manipulates everyone below them and are sucking every penny in our pockets using the government as their dog to do whatever they want to obtain more riches from us. They even use the media, the TV stations that they own. The actors that you patronize, who actually do not care a bit for their fans. Singers that you are willing to fall in line just to buy their albums, that have meaningless songs and trash lyrics.
Come to think of it sometimes. How many thousands or even millions are you who spend for those things?
And still you are "Proud to be Pinoy?", proud slaves most likely..
